Hall I.: Site, Prehistory, Buildings and Professions

It covers a period from the Paleolithic to the late Roman era (100,000 – 330 AD).

On display is the skull of an extinct wild animal that lived in the area, tools of chipped stone from the Paleolithic era, representative findings of the prehistory and early history of Elis dating from the 4th millennium to the beginning of the 1st millennium BC.

Of particular note are bronze knives and jewelry from the Sub-Mycenaean period (1060-1000 BC), found along with vases in tombs in the area of the theater.

The following thematic area unit includes clay and stone architectural members from various public buildings dating from the 6th century BC to the 3rd century AD are exhibited.

Next are objects related to professional activities and handicrafts, such as weaving, fishing, agriculture, construction, metalwork, pottery, and objects of daily use, such as knives, axons, pencils, scales, etc.

In the center of the hall, various inscribed objects are presented, (a sundial, a pedestal, a fragment of a column, vases and sherds).
