
The Ephorate of Antiquities of Elis participated in the celebration of International Museum Day 2025, which had as its theme “Museums and societies in constant change”, by implementing an educational program for students on Monday, May 19, 2025..
The program was themed “Elis, the city of the Olympic Games” and included a tour of the Archaeological Site and the Museum of Elis.
The guided tour focused on the structure and functioning of the city in relation to the Games and the preparation of the athletes that took place there, a discovery game to consolidate knowledge and a role-playing game with a reenactment of the sacred procession from Elis to Olympia for participation in the Games.
Students from schools neighboring the archaeological site were invited to the educational program and participated with enthusiasm and creativity, contributing to an interesting and overall successful activity.
The activity was designed by archaeologists Tonia Mourtzini and Chara Papachristopoulou and implemented by the latter.
